A look ahead to Saturday’s match against Southend United at Aggborough….

RUSS Penn wants Harriers to start the festive period off in strong style on Saturday when Southend United come to town.
Harriers host Kevin Maher’s men at Aggborough before a Christmas double-header against Boreham Wood.
The January 6th journey to Rochdale means it’s a packed two-week period, and an ideal opportunity for the Reds to get more points on the board.
“I think the Christmas period can turn a position upside down really,” said the boss.
“There are so many points in such a short space of time – 12 points up for grabs in the next two weeks.
“We want a healthy return, we need a healthy return and the pressure is on us now to do that.”
The Shrimpers visit Aggborough as one of the top performing sides in the division this term, despite off-field troubles that have arguably prevented that progress from being even better.
On merit, they’re just outside the play-off places in the National League, but sit further behind thanks to a ten-point deduction.
A takeover of the Roots Hall club is reportedly expected imminently, with United fans hopeful it will be early enough to act as the ideal Christmas present.
Should that happen, Saturday’s visitors will almost certainly strengthen to some degree ahead of the tie – United faced Bromley last week with just one substitute named.
Nonetheless, Penn knows their points return this season points to their quality.
He commented: “They’re a top, top club and probably one of three top clubs in the league.
“They’re ex-Championship within the last 20 years and they have a really good, strong fan base and a good team and Manager.
“So we’ll welcome them but hopefully they go back with nothing.”
Russ Penn has confirmed that, following set-backs, Joe Leesley and Nathaniel Knight-Percival are both a minimum of six weeks away from a return.
Harriers, otherwise, came through last weekend’s game with Maidenehead United unscathed.
Saturday’s game marks the visit visit to Aggborough for the Shrimpers since 2005, when a Chris Beardsley goal wasn’t enough to prevent a 3-1 set-back at the hands of the Essex oufit.
The two sides met at Roots Hall earlier this season with Southend winning 2-1.
Kick-off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
