HARRIERS made it three wins from three under Phil Brown with a resolute 1-0 victory at Dagenham & Redbridge in theĀ  National League.

More than 200 travelling fans roared their team on to a second single-goal victory on the road in a matter of days.

Alex Penny had a sight of goal as early as the third minute on the day – Jack Lambert found him at the far post at a corner, but Penny’s finish was sliced and off target.

Five minutes later, Gold Omotayo did well to chase down goalkeeper Elliot Justham who could only clear the ball up to Jack Lambert. The Harriers man was able to keep it long enough to get off an angled shot across goal that was deflected behind.

Dagenham then came into the contest and almost tidied away from close range on a couple of occasions but for key interventions from Reiss McNally and Alex Penny, the latter then also on hand to ensure a Shiloh Remy shot on 37 minutes brushed into the side netting rather than just inside Christian Dibble’s near post.

Four minutes later, through Sam Ling, Dagenham finally looked to have got past Dibble, but was thwarted once more by the Harriers defensive unit as another big block came on the line, just before Dibble held an Inih Effiong.

Effiong then fired across goal and wide with a big Dagenham chance just seconds into the first half, but it was the Harriers fans celebrating five minutes later as they took the lead. Byrne had bags of time to pick out a cross after taking the ball to the by-line, opting for Caleb Richards who drove into the net with a firm shot.

In fairness, it was again time to defend for Harriers as Dagenham again upped the pressure, Rees firing over before Ling again went close but also struck high over the target.

The visitors dug in and saw out their clean sheet not so much with ease, but with a professionalism that prevented a raft of chances coming towards the goal – a 95th minute header from sub Harry Phipps rising over as the closest of the bunch.

There was even a chance for a second Harriers goal between those openings. Lissimore was freed and drew the goalkeeper before opting to shoot, Justham smothering the ball well.
