Reds exit FA Youth Cup

Harriers pile on the pressure but can’t find a way past Newcastle…

Harriers in FA Youth Cup action

HARRIERS were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup on Thursday night after ending up on the wrong side of a 3-2 thriller against Newcastle Town.

The hosts raced into an early lead, 2-0 up before the midway point of the first half, before Archie Hill reduced the arrears with a firm finish six minutes later.

Seven before the interval it was 3-1 Newcastle as they restored their two-goal lead with an impressive finish, Harriers then keeping a topsy-turvy half going with a second goal of their own on the stroke of half time when Natty Hewett tucked away a penalty.

Harriers kept the pressure up in search of an equaliser throughout the second half and, despite a late free kick effort, Town held on to secure a place in the next round.

Commiserations to the hard-working lads representing Harriers on the night.
