ASHLEY Hemmings  bagged his 16th goal of the season to help Harriers take a point at league leaders Chester.

Hemmings tucked home at close range to equalise for the Reds, who’d gone behind to a sixth-minute Chester goal.

Though both sides had chances for a winner, a point apiece was about right on a fairly scrappy night at the Deva Stadium the two sides each determined to take something for their evening’s work.

For Harriers, things got off to the worst possible start. Christian Dibble had excellently tipped aside an early effort for a corner, from which Harrison Burke was able to head home into the roof of the net.

Dibble repeated the trick with 12 minutes gone to ensure Harriers weren’t 2-0 down in short order, a Hemmings header from Maz Kouhyar’s cross amounting to the visitors’ first chance.

Harriers were level on 33 minutes. Morgan-Smith strained to nod a ball across the area that looked to be heading in, Hemmings on hand to make sure and follow up at the far post.

Reece Devine combined well with Hemmings just after the restart before Chester thwarted their attack, Dan Mooney firing wide for the Seals on 56 as a fairly scrappy half produced one of its few chances.

Hemmings showed his power on 67 minutes to charge down the flank and cut inside before shooting, the effort drilling just past the far post.

A final home chance of the night gave Dec Weeks the chance to take aim and fire at Dibble, who produced a superb 80th minute save to keep the ex-Harrier at bay and allow his team to ensure they took home a share of the spoils.
