HARRIERS got back to winning ways at Aggborough thanks to a deserved victory over King’s Lynn Town.
Keen to banish the memories of one of the most difficult nights of the season in the return fixture, Harriers got off to the best possible start when the returning Kyle Morrison headed the boys into an early lead.
Reece Devine’s second goal of the season sealed the victory and an important three points.
It was a night on which, in truth, Harriers dominated. They could have been ahead after just four minutes when Amari Morgan-Smith headed Devine’s cross narrowly wide of the post.
The lead did come with just 12 on the clock, however. Maz Kouhyar crossed low for Morgan-Smith to finish, only for a decisive last-ditch tackle to deny him. From the resultant corner, however, new man Dave Worrall crossed for Morrison to plant home a smart header.
With 20 played Worrall almost supplied the ammunition for a second. Released by Kouhyar, the loan man controlled superbly before driving in a cross hat Hemmings met, the effort flying narrowly over.
A defensive Lynn header needed Paul Jones to tip over his own bar seconds before the break and, moments after it, another Kouhyar cross met by Hemmnigs, whose header was superbly parried away one-handed by Jones.
Lynn’s best chances came in the second half, one from Hmami seeing Christian Dibble get down quickly to parry, Jones then seeing a drive blocked well six yards out.
Moments later, Harriers had their second. Devine started his charge around 20 yards from the opposition goal, and followed an advancing Kouhyar who took the ball close to goal before laying in his team mate, Devine promptly rifling the ball into the back of the net.
The 74th minute saw Dibble make a good, low save from Gold Omotayo’s header but, with 83 on the clock, Harriers were denied a third only by another excellent Jones stop. Zak Brown curled the ball accurately towards the top corner, the flying goalkeeper tipping the ball away from the destination.
Jones saved once more from Morgan-Smith in injury time, but the destination of the points had long been secured.
