Murray ready to ‘get journey going’

Thoughts from the boss…

Adam Murray

ADAM Murray is relishing the start of Harriers’ pre-season match schedule as the team prepare to get back on the pitch at Droitwich next week.

Harriers head to Droitwich on Tuesday (15th, 7:30pm) to begin a run of friendly fixtures that will also take in trips to Shrewsbury Town, Worcester City, and Stourbridge, before home games against Halesowen Town and Solihull Moors round out the summer preparations.

Tuesday’s clash will be the first opportunity for supporters to see the team back in match action since the end of last season.

“I think once you start getting in the games… you can do all the work you want on the training ground, and we’ve done an awful lot in a short amount of time,” said the boss.

“But until you actually get into the games, you don’t get that real feel.

“So, from a football point of view, it’ll be nice too. I always like the first few games of pre-season because I want mistakes. I want to see where we need to improve and what players aren’t getting and are not quite clear on.

“I’m looking forward to that because that enables the teaching process to be sped up.”

The fixture schedule, which continues through to early August ahead of the new league season starting on Saturday 9th August against Scarborough, will also offer opportunities for fans to get familiar with the new-look squad — and with the manager himself.

“At the same point, I’m looking [forward] to getting to meet the supporters,” he added.

“It seems to have gone on forever this summer in pre-season, so it’ll be nice to get around the supporters and meet them.

“We’re looking forward to the games, we’re looking forward to getting everyone together now — players and supporters — and really get the journey going.”

Tickets for our upcoming away friendly matches are on sale now.
