BOSS Adam Murray has spoken of his delight at having striker Kurt Willoughby on board as preparations continue for the new season.
Willoughby joined Harriers earlier this month and has already featured in both of the club’s opening pre-season friendlies, away to Swansea City and Droitwich Spa.
The 27-year-old brings with him a proven National League North pedigree, having enjoyed success with Chester and York City in recent years.
And, speaking after the weekend’s outing at Droitwich, Murray underlined the value the frontman could bring to his group.
“I’m over the moon,” he said. “He is someone that we spoke to right at the start of the summer.
“For me, they don’t make centre-forwards like Kurt anymore – they’re really rare. What he does, you can’t coach. He’s a natural instinct finisher.
“He’s one of them – I had one last season in George Alexander. Sometimes you look in a game and you think, are they actually impacting it? Then someone will have a shot that’s going 50 yards wide, and he’ll just stand in the right place and put it in.”
Willoughby previously hit 23 goals in a single campaign for Chester before earning a move to Oldham, and also counts AFC Fylde and FC United among his former clubs.
Murray added: “Already in a short time working with Kurt, I can see his quality – his instinct on finishing and his movement in and around the box. That is priceless. You can’t put a price on that.
“We’ve seen the impact of it today. I’m really looking forward to working with him. I think he’ll be a big, big signing for us.”
