HARRIERS Women’s final game of 2025 ended in a narrow 1–0 defeat at home to Sheffield FC, writes Milja Stevenson.
The first half saw a strong and disciplined performance from Harriers, who stood up well to the pressure applied by the visitors while also creating a few half chances of their own.
Sheffield came closest to opening the scoring late in the half, with two clear-cut opportunities from set pieces, but the Harriers defence remained solid to ensure the sides went into the break level at 0–0.
After the restart, Harriers were very much on the front foot. Just a minute into the second half, Lucy Pugh registered the home side’s first effort of the half.
The game then remained fairly even, with both sides battling for control. Harriers went close again in the 70th minute, as Beth Gallagher couldn’t quite get on the end of an Izzie Whittick corner.
Sheffield took the lead in the 77th minute, with Darcy Dickens heading home from a corner to put the visitors ahead. Moments after the restart, Sheffield had a chance to double their advantage but fired wide of an open goal.
Despite remaining strong and pushing forward at every opportunity, Harriers were unable to find a way back into the game, with the match finishing 1–0 to Sheffield FC.
