LEICESTER City youngster Toby Onanaye stepped off the bench for his Harriers debut just minutes after meeting his new team mates on Tuesday night.
The 19-year-old put pen to paper on his first senior loan just hours before kick off and was introduced to the group shortly before the start of the clash with AFC Telford United.
He was a second half substitute and bagged himself the final 15 minutes on the pitch, even creating once chance for himself and showing flashes of his capabilities.
After the game, boss Adam Murray discussed the player’s unique introduction and says he has high hopes for Onanaye’s time in DY10.
Murray said: “He got here at five to six, I think! So, it’s the first time again he’s met the lads, a little bit like Coops did.
“We’ve got a few niggles at the minute. There’s a few boys out there today that had to have fitness tests this afternoon and credit to them. They wanted to play. They wanted to get through it.
“But with all the games that we’re having coming up, we need to make sure we’ve got the right balance in numbers.
“Tobi’s a young boy, loads of energy, can play anywhere in that midfield, can do the attacking bit.
“He’s got a lot of legs, can get around the pitch, which suits our way of playing. And technically he’s very good, so Leicester have got high hopes for him.”
Murray added: “He’ll add to the group and he gives more competition, which for me, if you want to be successful, you have to have competition.”
Tickets for Harriers’ next match, at home to Curzon Ashton on Saturday, are on sale now.
