Murray: That’s real support

The lads need you again this weekend…

ADAM Murray is keen to move on quickly from Tuesday night’s defeat to Macclesfield and paid tribute to the travelling Harriers fans.

150 made the journey to the Leasing.com Stadium having racked up recent trips to Scarborough, Bedford and FC Halifax all since the team’s last home game.

Such backing hasn’t gone unnoticed, and it was them Murray felt for most in the wake of the 5-1 defeat to the Silkmen.

Speaking after the game, the boss said: “Tonight I’m just disappointed. I’m really, really disappointed. I’m not even angry, I’m disappointed.

“I’m disappointed for our fans, because they travelled in great numbers. And I really appreciate them staying at the end there and somehow clapping the players.

“That’s real support, so I appreciate that.”

Having made three half-time chances and pulled a goal back through Joe Foulkes, Harriers briefly looked to rally at 3-1 on Tuesday night.

Macclesfield went on to score twice further to end any hopes of a fightback, but the impetus given to the side by those off the bench didn’t go unnoticed.

Murray went on: “I felt second half, we came out, we played a lot better second half. I thought that was the best I’ve seen Hemmo in a few games. He was back to his normal self, which is a positive.

“I thought Foulkesy was really good, which is a positive. And I thought Seb was good when he came on, which is another positive.

“So, look, I’ll take the positives. I’ve got to be honest with you, I don’t think there’s anything I’m going to learn from that game.

“It was all the things that, in my mind, I was trying to guard against. And like I spoke last week, that was my worry. But you kind of do so much and it is what it is. We move on and we’ve got some big games now.”

The big games do indeed come coming – Harriers travel to Spennymoor Town on Saturday and the boys need your backing once again.

Book up to support the lads on the road with away travel.
