HARRIERS Women secured a crucial victory over Notts County on Sunday, earning a vital three points in their fight for safety in Tier 4, writes Milja Stevenson

Harriers edged much of the first half and looked the more threatening side, though they were forced to stay alert at the back, with Daisy Jenkins producing several excellent saves to deny Notts. Despite Harriers’ positive start, it was the visitors who struck first, as Lily Stevenson put Notts ahead in the 27th minute.

Despite the setback, Harriers continued to apply the pressure, and were rewarded deep into first-half stoppage time as Mill Rogers found the net for her third goal of the season, levelling the score to send the sides into the break all square.

Harriers returned for the second half full of belief, taking the lead in the 57th minute when Seanna McCann put Harriers ahead with a low driven effort that creeped into the bottom right corner.

Notts pushed hard for an immediate response, but Jenkins once again stood firm with another important save to preserve the lead.

Facing late pressure, Harriers showed composure to see out the game, sealing a massive three points.
