HARRIERS hopes of a second home win in a week were dashed by a late goal that condemned them to defeat against Scarborough Athletic.

The play-off chasing Seadogs snatched an 82nd minute winner at Aggborough to take all three points from a game that had long threatened to end all square.

It was far from a bore fest - there was plenty of action to dissect as the two teams tried to find a way through, but it looked like honours would end even until substitute Jake Charles entered the fray and bagged the goal that snared the spoils for the visitors.

Harriers had gone close to a breakthrough as early as the second minute when visiting goalkeeper Joe Cracknell showed great agility in turning Ashley Hemmings' free kick around the post.

With 20 played, good defending saw Jack Bearne denied - Alex Penny and Tom Owen-Evans had combined excellently at the by-line to tee him up, but the loanee's effort was cleared on the line.

Michael Coulson's low shot was well held by Tom Palmer on 43 minutes, but it wasn't until the hour mark that either goalkeeper was really tested - a Hemmings delivery looked to have been headed down by Knight-Percival and destined for the back of the net, only for Cracknell to turn it aside.

Seven minutes later, Charles had as sight of goal when he was threaded through well inside the area, his shot saved well by Palmer before the striker turned the follow-up wide.

That turned out to be a huge warning for Harriers, as Charles would strike with minute minutes left to play, lurking at the far post with a well-timed run that left him free to tap in a good delivery from the right to find the net.

Harriers pushed for a leveller but, with the best of the late flurries, Knight-Percival hooked an effort over the bar.
