A YOUNG Harriers XI put in a solid showing in a 2-1 defeat at neighbours Stourport Swifts on Tuesday night.

The Reds selected a side of Academy prospects and trialists against the Swifts, and they stood up well against experienced opposition.

The hosts did take an early lead through Ben Tilbury’s third- minute header, but a composed finish from Jack Tolley on 17 minutes put Harriers level.

A goal equally as early after the break from Stourport’s Isaac Jagroop – also a well-taken header – had the home side back in front, but the game never threatened to get away from a well-organised, disciplined Harriers outfit to stayed composed throughout.

Stourport arguably had the greater share of chances to go on and win it, with sub goalkeeper Ben Wood making a string of excellent saves to keep them at bay.

A visiting sub in Tom Cole did have a couple of opportunities to find a second leveller for Harriers, but was thwarted by one save and saw another attempt off target.

Harriers continue with a maiden first-team friendly at Evesham United on Saturday (12:30pm).
