RUSS PENN is expecting a mighty tough test at Aggborough on Saturday as Harriers open their home campaign with the visit of Blyth Spartans.
The Spartans come to town fresh from an excellent opening day win over Alfreton Town.
It was the ideal start to the term for Michael Nelson’s men, who look set to compete again in National League North after two seasons of struggle.
After finishing in the play-offs in 2019, they finished at the lower end of the standings for the truncated two seasons that followed.
With plenty of good summer business done and some established names back in situ, the signs are promising – a fact not lost on Penn.
“They had a good victory last week against a physical Alfreton side,” he said.”
“He’s made wholesale changes there, Michael, and I’m under no illusions – this is going to be a very tough games.
“The forward line is strong… they’ve got a good eleven, they really have. They’re not the Blyth of old and we’ll give them full respect.”
Harriers will be without the suspended Amari Morgan-Smith and the injured Cliff Moyo, but new signing Geraldo Bajrami will be available.
Fans are reminded that there is no longer the facility to pay cash at the turnstiles at Aggborough.
You can still pay on the day of the game at the Box Office, but this incurs a £2 increase on our standard match day prices, so your best bet is to purchase in advance of the day if you can.

Again, it is still possible to buy your tickets at the Box Office (up to 15 minutes after kick-off), but you can’t pay cash at the turnstile.
Kick-off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
