A look ahead to Tuesday night’s home clash with Curzon Ashton at Aggborough…

TOM Owen-Evans insists Harriers have every right to take confidence from Saturday’s goalless draw as they prepare to host Curzon Ashton on Tuesday.

Harriers head into the game against The Nash with two clean sheets under their belt so far this term, but were frustrated against The Brakes at the weekend.

The side dominated much of the afternoon with scant reward, but Owen-Evans was far from downbeat as he looked ahead to the next challenge.

For Harriers, that challenge comes in the form of  Curzon side with a good reputation for playing good football – a prospect both sides should relish on the Aggborough playing surface.

“The pitch is brilliant and it allows us to get the ball down and play,” said Owen-Evans.

“They’re a footballing side as well so they’ll want to do the same.

“We’ve got to be on our mettle again but if we can put in a performance like we did on Saturday then we’ll be on the right side of the result.

“A win would be seven points from the opening few games and you’d take that.

“Three points at Blyth was massive and we wanted to back that up on Saturday and we didn’t quite do that.

“But there are a lot of positives to take and we’ll go into Tuesday against Curzon full of confidence.”

Owen-Evans was himself lively in the game against Leamington, twice hitting the post.

The Reds will hope to go into the game without any fresh injury worries, with only existing absentees Amari Morgan-Smith and Alex Penny missing out – though the former is now back in full training.

Curzon, meanwhile, come into the game looking for their first points of the season.

The Nash looked a safe bet for a point against Banbury at home on the opening day before being beaten by a late penalty. Adam Lakeland’s men were then edged out 1-0 at Buxton at the weekend.

Kick-off at Aggborough is at 7:45pm.
