Purdie, the title, an offer from The Hawthorns and plenty more from 1994

SATURDAY’S match progamme for the game against Farsley Celtic features a look back at one of the most iconic season’s in the club’s history – 1993-94.
The campaign was, of course, best known for the FA Cup run that saw Graham Allner’s men make history by reaching the Fifth Round of the FA Cup, where they’d meet West Ham in front of 8,000 at Aggborough.
It took until 2022 for Harriers to make a similiarly-sized splash in the competition in the fantastic 2021-22 season, but it’s worth noting that 93-94 had more than The FA Cup going for it.
It’s an overlooked fact that the Reds actually won what is now the National League that season, too, pipping Kettering to the title after a superb campaign packed full of goals and memories.
Sadly, the Main Stand at Aggborough, as it was then, wasn’t up to Football League standard – and as such the club was denied a place in what we now see as League 2.
It wasn’t, however, for the lack of trying and campaigning – West Bromwich Albion even offered the use of The Hawthorns back then as a potential solution.
All this and plenty more is in Saturday’s Memory Lane, as we recap the key moments, facts and figures of that brilliant season – including that Jon Purdie goal and plenty more madness besides.
Also in the issue, you’ll get comprehensive coverage of our visitors, Farsley Celtic, plus extended match reports, photos, and more – including our Kids Zone which features quick quiz with Gabby Rogers.
