Boss reflects on summer additions

PAUL Wotton remains delighted at the hunger and fire building within his new-look squad.

The Aggborough chief, himself in his first season in the hot seat in DY10, has been busily adding additions to the ranks.

Pre-season training edges towards the end of its first week on Friday and, with 20 players currently his disposal, the Manager is keen on just a handful more.

A key ingredient for anyone incoming will be an eagerness to join and play for Kidderminster Harriers – something very much true, he says, of his two most recent additions.

Former Solihull Moors man Olly Tipton joins Cian Harries in joining for the term ahead – both having made it clear they were keen to settle in this part of Worcestershire.

“Tips is someone who’s got National League experience,” Wotton explained.

“He’s only 22, he’s played 80 games. He can play in a variety of positions as well, so he brings that utility, that versatility to the squad.

“Like we’ve said, with all our signings that we’ve made so far, he wants to play for Kidderminster.

“He’s the right character. He’s the right fit, and he showed a genuine ambition to be here. Really happy with him. Good signing.”

Of the trend of all of his new arrivals having a point to prove this summer, the boss went on: “I think it’s a really good thing. We’ve spoke before, haven’t we, about your motivation to prove people wrong.

“I think it’s a really strong motivator. I think it’s a good thing to have when people doubt you, and you show them what you’re all about and that little bit of underdog spirit.

“Cian’s somebody I’ve known about for a long time. I tried signing him at my previous club. Didn’t work out for whatever reason.

“And this season, it was a long, ongoing process, but we got there in the end, and I’m thrilled to have him in. He’s a top player.”
