Reflections on FA Cup win….

JOHN EUSTACE hailed the response of his young Harriers side as they progressed through to the FA Cup Third Qualifying Round with a win at Deeping Rangers.
The reds have endured a contrasting week to say the least – two fantastic wins on consecutive Saturdays in league and cup, with the frustrating defeat at Tamworth sandwiched in between.
Three points, Cup progress and seven goals isn’t a bad week’s work by anyone’s standard – especially with much of the nation hoping for a Cup shock on this afternoon.
But aspects of the loss at the Lamb clearly irked the manager, who was proud of how they followed up that night with a professional performance at Deeping.
Against in-form opposition, the team did well to side-step a huge banana skin.
“I was very proud of the performance because this is a very young group,” he reflected.
“It’s been a tough week.
“We had a really good win away last weekend.
“It was a tough defeat on Tuesday for the young boys and for them to come back and show great character today and win the game against a very good team, I couldn’t be any more pleased.
“It’s a big test, [Deeping] have been on a great run and our form has been very up and down.
“So for them to put in a professional performance like they did today, I was very proud of them.”
Harriers were boosted by the arrival of defender James Pearson on Friday.
He came straight into the team for a debut and the boss was pleased with his performance.
Eustace added: “He did well and you could see he got a bit tired at the end.
“He’s come in to help with the young boys and he’s a leader.
“He’s a good player and we’re fortunate to have him.”
Up next for Harriers is a home clash with Blyth Spartans at Aggborough next weekend.
