HARRIERS host a Boston United side finding form at just the right time this weekend as action returns to Aggborough.
After lengthy trips to Chorley and Darlington last week, the Reds welcome the Pilgrims on Saturday in a key fixture.
Harriers are hoping to keep alive their play-off chase, while Boston are desperate for points to pull themselves clear of danger at the foot of the table.
While it has been an inconsistent season for Harriers, who sit five points adrift of the top seven, it has been an at-times torrid campaign for Ian Culverhouse’s men
A run of ten defeats in 13 games in all competitions left the in the division’s bottom four, though the undoubted quality in their ranks is now beginning to show through at a vital time.
They’ve now won two of their last three – victories against promotion chasing Darlington and Brackley Town no less.
Now they come to Aggborough looking to put more distance between themselves and those battling for survival, that gap currently at three points, though Boston have played a game more than 21st-placed Leamington.
Looking ahead to the arrival of the Pilgrims, Jimmy O’Connor said: “They have some excellent players, and, on paper, their squad is very, very good.
“They have a good blend of young players and older players who’re proven at the level. They have goalscorers in the team and are on a good run to be fair.
“They’ve gone to Chorley the other night and won. They dominated and could’ve won by more and are a side who are high on confidence.”
With home wins scarce this season – particularly on a Saturday – O’Connor and boss Russ Penn have been adamant something has to change.
The former added: “It is about us at home, it has got to be. Our home record is nowhere near good enough and there’s absolutely no shying away from that.
“We’ve got to do something about it…. that starts with us, with the players, we’ve got to give the fans something to shout about.”
O’Connor confirmed goalkeeper Christian Dibble should be available for selection on Saturday after missing out on the game against Darlington due to a foot injury.
Joe McGlynn (hip) continues his rehab with Burnley, with Joe Leesley the only other man ruled out for Harriers.
Kick off at Aggborough on Saturday is at 3:00pm.
