HARRIERS meet in-form Gloucester City on Saturday to battle with another of the sides deep in the thick of the promotion race.

City have lost just three times since the turn of the year to banish the struggles that beset the early part of their campaign.

Against the backdrop some off-field uncertainty brought about by Boardroom changes, the team have remained focused and won four from their last five league games.

Russ Penn said of the game: “They were behind us a few weeks ago and it shows you just what a couple of results can do.

“They have a couple of players in fine form at the moment and we have got to be careful.

“We have some good memories at Gloucester; the surface suits us, we like it, and we’ll go there on the back of a decent performance – that’s all it was – to get the maximum points on Saturday.”

The number of teams still battling it out to nail down a place in the play-offs in National League remains high.

Harriers are still in the mix, albeit further back than is ideal, but Penn knows that it might be down to one or two teams to pounce on any lapse in form above them.

The Aggborough chief explained: “Someone who hits a bit of form between now and the end of the season is going to grab that spot.

“There are a lot of teams tailing off now, a lot of tired teams and teams will probably say that about us as well.

“We’ve just got to focus on ourselves, but I do believe whoever hits that little bit of form, four or five wins on the bounce, is going to get that last spot as other teams are being dragged into it now.”

Penn confirmed Joe Leesley is currently ahead of schedule in his recovery from injury and might even be in a position to feature in next Saturday’s home clash with Alfreton Town.

This weekend will see Harriers without the suspended Nat Knight-Percival, though Krystian Pearce has returned to training ahead of the fixture.

Alex Penny will be assessed after encouraging signs from his latest injury, while Harriers will also run the rule over Kai Lissimore after he came off during the draw with King’s Lynn.

Kick-off at Gloucester is at 3:00pm.

Fans are reminded that there are no cash turnstiles at Gloucester – purchases must be made online.
