HARRIERS made it back-to-back National League North wins with a 1-0 home victory over Buxton.

Ashley Hemmings notched his ninth goal of the campaign after just 36 seconds, a fine finish flying past goalkeeper Theo Richardson.

Harriers had further chances through Hemmings, Shane Byrne and Joe Leesley, but thoroughly deserved the victory that kicked off the Bank Holiday weekend in style.

It was indeed the ideal start. Shane Byrne teed up Hemmings who took a touch before firing well beyond the goalkeeper and into the net.

Caleb Richards had a shot blocked and Krystian Pearce headed over the bar as early chances kept coming, the latter pulling a shot just wide of the far post after picking up on a Hemmings ball.

Harriers kept Buxton, previously the form team in the division and on the back of a 14-match unbeaten run, quiet for the vast majority of the tie. Their best chance of the day came five after the hour. A minute after Osborne had shot into Christian Dibble’s hands, De Girolamo planted a header just over the bar.

An audacious effort from Byrne, from inside his own half, almost caught out Richardson in goal as the ball dropped quickly, only to fall over the bar.

Three minutes later, Hemmings stabbed wide after Lissimore’s cross had found Richards in the area, and Leesley then thumped a rising effort off the bar with a shot that had looked destined for the back of the net.

It was a tie that the Reds never looked like losing and, deep in added time, they almost sealed the victory with more comfort. Sub Kobe Hall went for goal with a neat turn 18 yards out, Richardson just managing to nudge the effort wide.
