Reds secure MacDonald deal

A big new signing with the start of the season closing in

PAUL Wotton has landed a major signing just days before the start of the season with the acquisition of vastly experienced defender Angus MacDonald.

The 33-year-old has close to 400 senior appearances to his name in England and Scotland, having initially established himself in non-league at the start of his career.

After spells with Torquay, Wimbledon and Salisbury, he moved into the Championship with Barnsley and later featured for Hull, Rotherham and Swindon before a move to Scotland with Aberdeen.

While north of the border, he featured in many high-profile matches across three seasons, including Captaining the Dons in Europe. He left there in 2025 and spent time in the EFL with Exeter and Barrow – the latter coming at the back end of last season.

MacDonald brings considerable experience and leadership to the squad in penning a two-year deal at Aggborough ahead of Saturday’s trip to Hornchurch in the National League.

Welcome to Aggborough, Angus!
