HARRIERS and Dorking had to settle for a share of the spoils at Aggborough as the two teams played out a goalless draw at Aggborough.
A Reds side looking for a fifth straight win in the National League were ultimately frustrated by a Dorking side who defended stoutly throughout on a day of limited goal mouth action.
Sam Bellis had the first real sight of goal on the day, barring one blocked effort for the visitors. The striker reacted as quickly as possible to a driven Ashley Hemmings effort, but wasn’t quite able to direct it on goal enough to upset goalkeeper Harrison Male.
With 28 on the clock and the ball bouncing inside the area, Amari Morgan-Smith took aim with a volley that caught sweetly, but failed to drop down on target in going over the bar.
Nine minutes later, Hemmings had the ball inside the Dorking area at a corner and snapped as shot sharply at goal that Male did well to instinctively palm away to safety.
The game failed to truly come to life in the second half, with both outfits reduced to limited opportunities – one of those falling the way of debutant Regan Griffiths as he shot at Male, his effort pulling wide of the post from around 18 yards.
A minute later the ball was at the other end as Dorking came forward, Josh Taylor unleashing a 20-yard effort that Christian Dibble just managed to get a fingertip to, ensuring it went behind rather than into the net.
Harriers sub Gold Omotayo had a half chance with four left of normal time when he glanced wide from a Hemmings cross, the tall striker later nodding down to Shane Byrne inside the area, whose shot was gobbled up by Male to preserve the parity on the day.
The Reds must take the point earned into another home game this coming Tuesday night when Gateshead come to town.
