Keep standards high – Cooper

Midfielder’s verdict

CHARLIE Cooper wants to help get Harriers back to the high standards the group have set themselves this season.

The Reds have been in strong National League North form in recent months but endured a frustrating day on Saturday in drawing 1-1 with Southport at Aggborough.

That frustration needs to be channelled, says the on-loan Yeovil Town man, who is eager to see the Reds get back tow winning ways.

Speaking after Saturday’s draw, he said: “I think the run that we’ve been on in the last probably 10, 11, 12 games, whatever it was, and we set the standards, so high within the group.

“It’s difficult when we come away from that as individuals on the pitch.

“You get frustrated, but I think it’s just up to us now on the pitch to sort that out and get the standards back up and start picking up more points.”

The 1-1 stalemate was a sixth draw at home for Harriers this season, who’ve suffered just a couple of defeats in DY10 this campaign.

The proposition of unlocking teams can be a challenging one, but Cooper insists that has to be the aim going into the final months of the term, starting with the visit of Marine on Tuesday night.

“It’s tough when teams come to our ground,” he added: They’re expecting a tough game. Teams now have tried to sit in against us and frustrate us, so it’s just finding ways around that.

“I feel like since I’ve come, that’s been the story. We’ve dominated most games and that’s obviously a sign of a good team, but we need to turn a few of those draws into wins and make sure we’re ruthless.

“I think that’s the biggest thing because, like you can see, we do get chances and a lot of ball in the opposition’s half. It’s just turning them chances into goals now really.”

Cooper bagged the second goal of his loan spell on Saturday, having featured extensively in National League North since his switch here late last year.

Of his time in Worcestershire so far, he went on: “I’m really enjoying it, yeah, I’ve enjoyed working under the gaffer.

“All the lads have been great since I’ve come in. The style of play, I like it and obviously it helps when you’re winning games, so yeah, long may that continue.

“Hopefully we stay in the play-offs and see what we can do.”
