RICHARD Faakye impressed boss Adam Murray with his debut showing at Aggborough on Tuesday night.
Faakye was thrust into the mix after the unexpected departure of on-loan defender Paul Kalambayi.
‘PK’ had made 26 starts during his spell in DY10, providing a sizable force and presence to the Harriers back-line.
He was recalled by parent club Dagenham & Redbridge on the eve of the game against Alfreton, leaving Murray forced to shuffle the pack.
It presented a chance for Faakye, signed late last month, to make his Harriers debut, and the youngster was impressed with how he fared.
“Obviously [Kalambayi] been a massive player for us, but that’s football isn’t it? It is what it is. He’s a top player and he’s done really well for us.
“But like I said to the staff and the players: ‘We’ve got a job to do.’
“I thought Richard did well tonight for his first game. Young boy came in and I thought he did really, really well.
“He’s a very good footballer and we brought him in to cover another position, if I’m being honest with you, but he stood up there tonight.”
Murray was hopeful Harriers may be able to strengthen shortly having also bid farewell to Ashley Hemmings in recent days.
The Reds travel to Buxton on Saturday.
