Heading into the final game of the campaign, Sam Austin is looking to end the season on a high as they face Guiseley at Aggborough.

The 2-2 draw at Southport on Bank Holiday Monday meant that Harriers' play off hopes were ended, but Austin wants to ensure that the players do all they can in the last game of the season to send the fans home happy.

"This is a time to make the fans happy; I'm sure that they're very disappointed with where they finished in the league so it's really important to finish on a win and make them happy," said Austin.

"We've got to be disappointed - as a big club like Kidderminster, we should definitely be making the playoffs and that's what we aimed for this season: promotion.

"Not getting in the playoffs has been really disappointing.

"We had a really good run towards the end and we needed to win every game, which is always going to be tough in this league.

"...They're a tough, very physical team but being at home, it's all about how we play our football and hopefully we can finish on a win..." Sam Austin

"We couldn't quite do it which was disappointing, and other results didn't really go our way either.

"It's important for players to show what they've got as it's the end of the season now, and sometimes for players it's time for contract talks, so they need to impress to be able to sign one".

Following the departure of manager Mark Yates prior to the match at the Merseyrail Community Stadium, Harriers captain, Jimmy O'Connor, stepped in to take charge of the team for the final two matches of the season.

Austin was full of praise for the way that O'Connor has stepped in.

"Jim has stepped in when he's had to and has done a really good job at getting the players ready, no matter what's going on in the background," admitted Austin.

"Even when he's been playing here he's been outstanding - he's such a leader and having him in the changing rooms is a massive bonus to everyone.

"He's worked hard with us throughout the seasons that he's been here - not only in the coaching roles but as a player, and learning off him has been great".

Guiseley head to Aggborough having confirmed their National League North status on Monday with a victory over Darlington.

Our first meeting with The Lions this season ended with a 0-0 draw following a physical and competitive game but Austin is, however, hopeful that the Aggborough meeting will see Harriers end their season on a high.

On a personal note, Austin admitted that he has enjoyed the regular game time that he has achieved this season.

"They're a tough, very physical team but being at home, it's all about how we play our football and hopefully we can finish on a win," said Austin.

"I've really enjoyed this season as I've knuckled down a position in the second half of the season on that right side - whether that's right wing back or right back; I'm trying to make it my own.

"Being a winger previously had definitely helped me in the attacking aspect, but I've had to learn the defensive side and I think I'm really coping with it".

Billy Daniels; Declan Weeks and Joel Taylor will all be assessed ahead of Saturday's game to see if they will be able to play some part following their recent spells out due to injury.
