U18s make it three from three

The young reds continue their great start…….

Harriers U18s made it three wins from three with a 3-2 victory over Bishops Cleeve U18s on Wednesday night in the MFYL Southern Division.

The young reds’ first home match of the season got off to a great start with a goal in the third minute. A cross from the right found Zach Ballard who finished with a low, powerful effort to the visiting keeper’s left.

Bishop’s Cleeve levelled in the 64th minute after a mix up between the Harriers defence and goalkeeper, leaving the striker to finish into an empty net.

The young reds thought that they had scored within a minute of the away side drawing level, as a free kick from the right found the head of Casey Collins on the edge of the area. The substitute guided his header expertly into the bottom corner, but the goal was disallowed due to an offside decision.

The match wasn’t level for long, though, as substitute Collins cut in onto his weaker left foot after 66 minutes, and finished well into the bottom corner from the edge of the box.

Six minutes later Harriers extended their lead as Lewis Page raced down the right wing and breezed past a challenge, crossing across the face of goal allowing Jack Greenow-Langford to finish from a few yards out.

The away side pulled another back after 75 minutes. A cross in from the right was stroked home with a shot across the box into the goalkeeper’s bottom left corner.

Harriers held onto the lead as they claimed their third win from three matches.
