A young Harriers XI were held to a 1-1 draw against Stourport Swifts on Tuesday night at Walshes Meadow.
The match was a friendly and consisted of players from our new U23s squad alongside three first team players and a number of trialists.
In an energetic and creative first half, Harriers took the lead after 21 minutes following a brilliant through ball by Owen Osbourne which cut through the defence and found Myles Newman, who slotted home past Stourport keeper Dominic Richards.
Gabby Danko then had two chances in quick succession shortly after – the first was following a surging run through the defence, but his shot deflected over bar after 25 minutes.
Another chance for Danko two minutes later presented itself after Kennedy Digie played him through to be one on one with the Stourport keeper, but the shot under Richards went wide of post.
Stourport worked their way back into the game as the second half progressed and their attacking pressure earned them an equaliser after 77 minutes. Former Harrier Dan Sweeney charged at the defence and unleashed a powerful drive from 25 yards which dipped under the bar and past Harriers’ trialist goalkeeper.
Jack Finch tried to find a winner on 84 minutes with a swerving, firmly hit shot from distance but Richards was able to parry away and the score remained level.
Harriers XI: Trialist, Josh Sargeant, Josh Webb, Jack Finch, Kennedy Digie, Cameron Howkins, Gabby Danko, Myles Newman, Trialist, Owen Osbourne, Jelson Antonio.
