Boss pleased to defy critics

Reaction from Boxing Day derby…

JOHN Eustace was pleased to see his side defy some critics on Boxing Day after a fully-committed performance in the derby at AFC Telford.

A gritty showing from both sides produced a goalless game that was hardly a bore draw.

Eustace watched as his charges rolled up their sleeves, muddied their kits and did the dirty side of the game against a Bucks side who did every bit the same.

It was especially pleasing for the boss, who feels the team often don’t get the credit they deserve for being able to mix it in that way.

Speaking after the game, he reflected on the performance, saying: “It was a tough game and conditions weren’t great.

“It was always going to a tough test for us and, overall, a draw is a fair result.

”A lot of people have questioned us at times throughout the season about playing in conditions like that.

“So I am really proud of the lads… the whole team were very dogged today.

“The lads are growing throughout the season. We are getting asked different questions and they are answering them now.”
