We’ve got to pick ourselves up – Austin

Austin reflects on Harrogate defeat…

Kidderminster Harriers' Sam Austin

SAM AUSTIN was determined to ensure that he and his team mates avoid dwelling on Saturday’s loss to Harrogate Town for too long.

The boys in red and white fell to a 2-0 defeat to the North Yorkshire side – their first since September in the league.

However, vastly versatile Austin pointed out the need to recover and put it right in upcoming games.

He reflected: “It’s a disappointing one to take, but we can’t let it get us down for too long.

“There are plenty more games in the season to get wins.

The result leaves Harriers in fifth place in the Vanarama National League North, but Austin took plenty of positives from the game and believes that Harriers are up there with the best.

“There are a fair few teams that are up there doing well at the moment, and we’d like to think that we’re one of those teams,” said Austin.

“We need to make sure that we get another unbeaten run going at home and away.”

On Saturday’s performance, Austin added: “I think we worked hard for parts of the game, but I think we need to be better in both boxes.

“We had a lot of chances to score but we didn’t take them today.

“We didn’t come together as a team as much as we have been doing.

“We’ve got to pick ourselves up and have another good week of training.”
