Former Red hails new Harriers boss

Jamille Matt reflects on Neil MacFarlane’s appointment at Aggborough…

Jamille Matt, in his Fleetwood Town days

FORMER Harriers favourite Jamille Matt believes new boss Neil MacFarlane is the ideal fit for Aggborough Stadium after his installation as boss last week.

The former Coventry coach was appointed manager for the 2018/19 season on Friday.

Matt, who performed memorably for Harriers between 2010 and 2013 before his move to Fleetwood Town, where he would go on to work under MacFarlane who was part of the managerial team at Highbury.

The 28-year-old, still banging in the goals in the Football League – and who netted against Harriers for Blackpool in the 2016/17 FA Cup run – noted MacFarlane’s appointment with interest.

He commented: “Neil was good to work with at Fleetwood – he had an intensity and would tell you if you weren’t up to scratch in what you were doing.

“But then he was always someone who would take time out to help you improve your game as well.

“I was disappointed to see Kiddy miss out in the play-offs last season but I think Neil will do a great job there, I wish them all the best for the new season.”
