HARIERS ended their pre-season programme with a comfortable win at National League side Solihull Moors.

Joe Ironside netted twice after Ashley Chambers had given the visitors the lead.

Bar the odd flurry from the hosts, Harriers controlled much of the day’s play. After Darren Carter saw his free-kick dealt with and Adi Yussuf’s attempted cross was cut out, it was Harriers who took a 25th minute lead as a fine Billy Daniels was met by a well-timed run by Chambers, who rounded the keeper to score.

Soon after, Jamey Osborne had a chance with a low shot for Solihull that Brandon Hall saved well, before the visitors’ second goal arrived when Ironside nipped in to pounce on an error by Williams to fire the ball beyond goalkeeper Ryan Boot.

It was Hall then kept busy on 35 minutes as he tipped wide Kyle Storer’s free-kick, before the ex-Harrier almost turned the ball into his own net at the other end.

A quieter start to the second half came to an end close to the hour with a chance at either end – Harriers taking theirs and making it 3-0 when Ironside again proved a menace for Williams in leaping on indecision to slam the ball home. Yussuf again tried his luck but found Hall in good form.

Harriers had to stand up to some physical pressure – Horsfall and Vaughan to name just two throwing themselves at efforts to keep the afternoon’s sheet clean.

There were late chances to add a fourth for Harriers thanks to sub Kane’s industry – but Sam Austin could only fire into the side netting before the recent arrival himself saw a shot blocked.
