NEIL MACFARLANE hailed Saturday’s pre-season test at Solihull Moors as the “perfect” way to lead into the start of the season this coming weekend.

Harriers will head into the National League North opener at Alfreton Town on August 4th on the back of an impressive 3-0 win at the National League side.

It was a fixture which tested the resolve of the squad but also one that delivered the required reaction as demanded by MacFarlane in the wake of the previous friendly against West Brom.

The side were clinical in front of goal and did everything asked of them at the other end to secure a clean sheet.

It left MacFarlane to reflect: “It was the perfect game for us, leading up to Alfreton next week.

“I was really pleased with the group as a whole and thought they put so much into the game – it was good to get a deserved victory.

“It was the first time we’ve seen rain for a while and I think it was good for the grass both here and back at our training ground!

“We handled conditions and also handled the game; it was a real football match which we’ll experience a lot in the league this season.

“As a group they stood up to the game fantastically.”
