NEIL MacFarlane has paid tribute to his captain Jimmy O’Connor after the defender’s match winner against Stockport on Monday.
The former Walsall favourite was installed as Harrier skipper by the gaffer back in the summer.
The goal O’Connor netted in the 2-1 victory was his very first during his time at Aggborough, coming at an ideal time to say the least.
Speaking to the official website, MacFarlane hailed the job the 33-year-old has been doing at the heart of the defence as well as the dressing room.
“It was good movement – really good movement across the face of the defender,” commented the manager.
“We were delighted for him as it was a big win for us.
“He’s our club captain and he has done a fantastic job for me since day one, so I was so pleased to see him grab a goal.
“He is a real leader.”
