NEIL MacFarlane was delighted with the fine defensive performance of his side following the 2-0 win over Boston United on Saturday.

The Reds made it back-to-back league wins with a fine showing at York Street.

While the victory was delivered thanks to two stunning strikes from Ed Willliams and Ashley Chambers, it was also sealed thanks to the side doing what MacFarlane called “the dirty side of the game.”

Reflecting on the performance and clean sheet, he commented: “We have goals in the team, which is vital in any side.

“But it was really important today [that] we dealt with the dirty side of the game. With the narrowness of the pitch, whenever we were asked a question from wide free kicks or corners, we dealt with it fantastically.

“We’ve come away from home to a difficult venue and acquitted ourselves fantastically.”  Neil MacFarlane

“We put our head on things, were clearing things off lines when we had to and we really did everything we could and needed to, to keep the ball out of the back of the net.

“For them to get a clean sheet as a group – it’s brilliant for them.”

MacFarlane added: “It was a great team performance and a really important three points.

“We stressed all week that we wanted to keep that unbeaten run through winning, and that’s three wins from four which is fantastic in this league.

“We’ve come away from home to a difficult venue and acquitted ourselves fantastically.”
