Ryan Johnson knows full well Harriers “weren’t good enough” in their defeat to FC United of Manchester on Saturday.
Harriers surrendered their unbeaten home start to the season with the 2-1 defeat, despite having taken the lead.
The concession of two poor goals was compounded by an uncharacteristic response from the home side, whom Johnson felt went within themselves in the wake of the second goal.
Speaking after the game, the defender on loan from Stevenage said: “It’s a result you never want to accept [because] we conceded two really rubbish goals and we really didn’t come back from it.
“We knew the circumstances before the game, but we said we had to stick through it and get the result, no matter where they are in the league, and we just didn’t do that.
“Next week we’ll react to that and hopefully get the win. We set high standards for ourselves and [on Saturday] we just weren’t good enough.
“Once they scored the second goal we really went into our shells and that’s really not like us – it’s the first time that’s happened and it’s not good enough.”
