Harriers kicked off their defence of the WFA Women’s Sunday Cup with a comprehensive win at Redditch Borough.
The girls made fine progress into the next round with an emphatic enough victory, winning 7-2 despite not being at the top of their game.
With the team juggling so many commitments in league and Cup – including the FA Cup run which has taken them to the First Round and an Aggborough clash against Wolves – James Astle made numerous changes for this clash, and the side struggled at times to find true fluency.
That said, they still never looked in danger of losing the tie. By the break, they were 5-0 up thanks to goals from Amber Lawrence (2), Amy Plimmer, Kirsty Roberts and Kady Donohue.
The home side did net twice after the break, either side of another goal from Roberts, but it would be Harriers who had the last word, as a powerful, diving header from debutant Dom Luke ensured the visiting tally reached a magnificent seven.
The next round of the WFA Women’s Sunday Cup sees Harriers meet Kingfisher Ladies next month, with the team’s next outing coming with a home league tie against Solihull Sporting at COSE on Sunday (28th) at 2pm.
As ever, admission at COSE (DY11 7DY) is free of charge – come on down and support the ladies.
