Another walk down memory lane – Chester Road to be exact – and some Harriers history…

In the 1889-90 season, Kidderminster Harriers met Kidderminster Olympic at the Chester Road Cricket Ground.
Both of these clubs were founder members of the Birmingham & District Football League and, at the end of the first season, Olympic finished top with Harriers claiming the runners-up spot.
Unfortunately, due teams dropping out of the league and new ones replacing them throughout the season during the formative years of the division, there were no official champions declared until 1893.
Later in 1890, though, Kidderminster Olympic and Kidderminster Harriers merged under the Harriers banner. Harriers continued in the Birmingham League until 1939, winning the Championship in consecutive seasons (1938 and 1939), clinching a league and cup double in the latter campaign.
The rest, as they say, is history….
