Kettering were regular league opponents when both sides were in the fifth tier – then known as the Conference – between 2008 and 2012, Harriers winning four of eight contests during that period.
The most recent of those meetings was the most emphatic, Harriers winning 6-1 at Aggborough in the last month of the 2011/12 season at Aggborough.
This result, unfortunately, arrived during a difficult spell for The Poppies off the field – the club entering administration during that season, leading to a bottom of the table finish and eviction from the ground that they then called home, Nene Park.
Matters got worse as – ahead of the following 2012/13 season – Kettering were demoted through two divisions to the Southern League, where they finished bottom in their first season at that level to be relegated to England’s eighth tier.
Promotion back to tier seven occurred during the 2014/15 season, before they stormed to the title of the Southern League Premier Division Central during 18/19, finishing on 94 points to reach National League North.
The current summer has, though, seen a managerial change at Latimer Park – the ground that Kettering share with Burton Park Wanderers – Nicky Eaden replacing Marcus Law at the Poppies helm.
Both scheduled meetings with Kettering are scheduled to take place on Bank Holidays – Harriers are due to travel on Bank Holiday Monday in August, and The Poppies will visit Aggborough on Good Friday.
