“We’ve still got work to do.”

Verdict from the gaffer after the friendly with Wolves at Aggborough…

Harriers Manager, John Pemberton

JOHN Pemberton insists Harriers must keep on improving as the team close in on the start of the new National League North season.

Pemberton takes charge of his first league match of the term when Harriers face Leamington at Aggborough on Saturday, 3 August.

The side played their final home pre-season friendly with a midweek win over Wolves, putting in a performance that left the gaffer satisfied with much of what he saw.

He pointed out that there’s much more still to come, though.

“Tonight, was probably as good as we’ve played.

“We’ve shown a lot of glimpses of that but tonight I think we put them all together.

“But we’ve still got work to do – I want them to be better than that and be more consistent.

“…we’re making good strides but, for me, we’ve still a long way to go.” John Pemberton

“The understanding is coming now, but it takes time, and I’ve said that since the start… we’re making good strides but, for me, we’ve still a long way to go.”

The gaffer added: “We’ve done a lot of work but it’s just about them understanding what their role is, what their job is and being consistent in what they do.

“Sometimes simple is better – we don’t need the final ball to be forced, we’ve got options.

“We don’t just train off the cuff, a lot of this is now putting it all together.”
