RUSS Penn has said former Birmingham City youngster Koby Arthur is continuing to train with Harriers following his midweek appearance in the Worcestershire Senior Cup.

Arthur was part of a young side beaten by Alvechurch on Wednesday night.

The 24-year-old has been training with the group for the last month or so as he looks to continue building his fitness, having not played competitively since leaving Macclesfield Town last season.

Ghana-born, Arthur was unable to prevent the side from going down to a 3-0 defeat which included a brace of late goals.

Manager Penn touched on the former Blues midfielder’s involvement, noting that it was part of an ongoing process.

He said: “We invited Koby in about four weeks ago now – obviously we were going to be interested because of the pedigree he has.

“We needed to get an idea on how fit he was and said to him that we’d register him to play in the game [On Tuesday] and any ‘reserve’ games that come up.

“He’s not ready to be involved heavily with our first team yet but his ability is there when he’s fit, so we’ve got to get him to that point, and we’ll see where we go.”

Penn added that the club is continuing to monitor talent with a view to making additions either between now and the end of the season or beyond, saying: “We’d be silly to not be looking at some faces for the future as well as the present.”
