RUSS Penn praised Keith Lowe’s “colossal” performance as Harriers won at Southport.
Goals from Lowe and Ashley Hemmings secured the three points for Penn’s charges and continued their decent recent form.
The win also saw the team come from behind, too, which was something that pleased the manager when he spoke after the game.
While praising the collective efforts of everyone in red, Penn did give the 34-year-old former York City man his due, such was his influence on the display.
Penn reflected: “We’ve come here on a pitch which is not conducive to football [and where] they turn the wind on at five to three, and against a team of men, really.
“Southport are a strong team, and to go a goal down and come back to get the three points… I’m so proud and relieved, my heart’s just calming down a bit… I’m just chuffed for everyone.

“It was a game of set pieces, and it had to be… we’ve defended really well today. I thought Keith Lowe was colossal, and he masterminded our defensive duties.”
Harriers have nine games left of the National League North campaign.
Promotion looks all but out of reach, while lingering relegation have been eased a little in recent weeks.
Does that leave the team, management and club with nothing to play for?
Penn refuted: “No one can rest on their laurels now.
“There are a lot of lads out of contract and I’ve told them to showcase themselves to me.
“That’s only healthy for the club going forward.”
