WILL Mannion admitted clean sheets were key in his being named Player of the Month award in the National League North.
Prior to the suspension of the season, Mannion’s performances throughout the month of February earned him the top recognition.
He was named the best player in National League North as the team slowly cemented a run of form, particularly under boss Russ Penn.
Speaking about the award, the player on loan from Hull City commented: “It’s always nice to get recognition if you’re doing well, but the whole team has been doing well recently.
“At the start of [February] we were in a situation where we needed to win games. We were creeping down the table, so we all pulled together and did what we needed to do.
“It started with those three clean sheets, that’s the main thing!
“It’s all down to the team, really… since then, we’ve pushed on and results have been showing.”
The former Aldershot Town man added: “The lads welcomed me in from day one to be honest, but it always takes time to get used to your new surroundings.
“I’ve talked before about getting used to the physicality of it, but the lads are doing well.”
