A young Harriers Academy side fell to a 2-0 pre-season defeat at Worcester City on Tuesday night.
It was a competitive first half, with Worcester ahead at the break thanks to a solitary goal from Dan Westwood.
Keegan Horan had looked to cleverly chip the City goalkeeper at the midway point of the half, only to see his effort drop over the bar – the goal coming ten minutes later as the hosts recycled a corner and Westwood tucked the ball away.
Getting forward, Joe Anthony got into a great position just after, but Brendon Bunn managed to hold his effort.
Ten after the break, City’s Chris Sterling’s strong, low effort was turned wide, Horan and Josh Parker then at the other end going close with an effort each.
Sterling fired an effort over for Worcester seven after the hour, while with 15 to go, Parker headed over a Horan cross as the lively duo combined again.
On 80 minutes City doubled their lead through Billy Shaw’s well-taken, low finish, the hosts denied a third on 86 was a header was well tipped over the bar.
That was enough to ensure the Harriers young guns ended up on the losing side but, as with Stourport at the beginning of pre-season, the young lads acquitted themselves excellently.
