Tuesday night sees Harriers head to Hereford…

JIMMY O’Connor says Harriers wasted no time in shutting down the euphoria of Saturday’s injury time winner at Darlington, with the derby at Hereford now in full focus.

Harriers were rewarded for their lengthy trek north and a solid performance with Marcus Dinanga’s dramatic late header.

That sent the boys and a hardy band of Harriers fans back home in high spirits but, quickly turning attentions forward, the Aggborough assistant chief said the celebrations couldn’t and didn’t last long.

Within moments the attention was turned to Edgar Street where local rivals Hereford prepare to play host.

O’Connor said: “Straight away, [it’s about] recovery – that’s all we’ve got to do.

“It’s as boring as anything but I’ll say it again as that’s what good teams are made of.

“We finished Saturday and celebrated it, but straight away it is about Tuesday, and ‘can we back that up?’

“When you win a game, it’s only worth three points unfortunately!

“It’s on to that, we’ll hopefully get a good result there if we can and try put a good performance on.

“It’s just about taking each game as it comes.”

The tie replaces the postponed match from 2 January and will be the second meeting of the two sides following the scrappy FA Trophy meeting back in November.

Harriers managed to edge that one on penalty kicks on an afternoon where there was little to choose between the two outfits.

While tonight’s visitors won on the road this past weekend, Hefeford were on their own patch and went down 2-0 to high-flying Gateshead – that just days after another title chaser in Brackley managed to claw their way to a 1-0 victory against Josh Gowling’s men.

The Bulls are rarely far away in matches, however, and prior to December had gone on a run of five straight league wins to put themselves within touching distance of the play-off positions.

The likes of Dinanga will of course be pushing for a start on Tuesday night, while Devonte Redmond is awaiting his debut after signing last week.

Nathan Cameron missed out against Darlington having been withdrawn against Farsley last midweek but will be assessed going into the Edgar Street clash.

Hereford have reminded Harriers fans that, whilst they can purchase match tickets on the day at Edgar Street on Tuesday night, buying online in advance is strongly recommended.

Those not buying in advance risk possible delays or disappointment. Tickets purchased for the 2 January match remain valid for this match.

Kick-off at Edgar Street on Tuesday night is at 7:45pm.
