A look to Saturday’s home meeting with Peterborough Sports at Aggborough….

HARRIERS start the Bank Holiday weekend with a home challenge against newly-promoted Peterborough Sports on Saturday.

The Turbines came up to this level thanks to success via the play-offs last season, having barely tasted defeat during the final months of that campaign.

They were beaten ten days ago at Gloucester City but, otherwise, have won two and  drawn one of their games in National League North as that momentum carries through.

A home draw against Buxton have come alongside victories against Southport and Chester as they establish themselves at the higher end of the early league table.

It’s that momentum Harriers have to be wary of, says boss Russ Penn, has he looks ahead to the first of a weekend double – the visit of Peterborough being followed by the Reds’ trip to Brackley Town on Monday.

Speaking on our YouTube channel, he said: “I’m looking forward to the weekend – it’s busy but it’s busy for everybody else.

“We’ve got to take one game at a time and we can only control Peterborough at the moment and we’re going to pick a team to win that game on Saturday.

“It’s a tough game, they’ve come up last season with a lot of momentum and have brought that momentum and that form into the new league.

“You can see that the three teams who were promoted are in the top four already, albeit after four games. They’re confident and Peterborough will be no different.

“You see it in the League when teams go up from the National League, they go up again.

“They have a winning mentality and that can be a great positive going into a new season – they’ve kick-started this season really well and it’s going to be a good game.”

Penn says Harriers will give late fitness tests to Tom Owen-Evans and Yusifu Ceesay ahead of the game.

Owen-Evans missed last weekend’s win at Bradford in which Ceesay was withdrawn early.

Amari Morgan-Smith will hopefully be available, but Alex Penny, back in full training, is still a few weeks away.

Kick-off at Aggborough is at 3:00pm.
