HARRIERS head to the division’s early pace-setters King’s Lynn Town on Saturday looking to get their own form back on track.

Lynn sit third in National League North as we speak but have as many as three games in hand on both Brackley and Darlington above them.

Victories in each of those would see them climb back into top spot with a comfortable advantage, thanks in no small part to terrific home form that sees them presently unbeaten on their own patch.

They’ve lost just two of the 15 matches they’ve played this season and, if that wasn’t also enough, also boast a very strong goal difference.

Coupled with their league form, King’s Lynn have also progressed into the Second Round proper having travelled away to EFL side Doncaster Rovers and knocked them out last weekend.

It has, all in all, been an excellent start for the side relegated from the National League last season.

It all makes tomorrow’s challenge a tough one for Harriers, who want to arrest a run of three straight defeats following Tuesday’s reverse at Boston United.

Sulking is no option, though, according to Russ Penn, who was full of admiration for what he’s called the best side in the division.

He explained: “We can either sulk about it, or get our heads down, work hard and get ourselves out of it and that’s’ what we intended to do.

“It’s a tough run when you’re in the situation we’re in, and I think every club has had it where they seem to be away from home for a month at a time, and this is our month.

“We’ll go to the league leaders – though in fact they’re second at the moment – in King’s Lynn.

“They’re a good team. By all accounts, watching them and hearing other manages’ reports, they’re the best team in the league, so we’ll look forward to pitting our wits against them.

“They’re like ourselves; full time and have good resources. They’re a team that’s started the season very well and had an excellent result on Tuesday.

“They’re doing really well in the FA Cup so they’re the team to beat at the moment.”

Penn confirmed that skipper Shane Byrne is ‘not available’ for the weekend after coming off with a recurrence of a back injury at Boston.

Joe Foulkes and Tom Owen-Evans showed no adverse reaction to their return to action in midweek and should remain in contention.

Nat Knight-Percival remains out but is making steady progress with his rehabilitation after his ankle injury.

Kick off at King’s Lynn is at 3:00pm.
