JACK Lambert is relishing the chance to be back in full-time football, admitting he’d taken it for granted earlier in his career.
Lively attacker Lambert was confirmed as a Harriers signing last week after two memorable seasons with Darlington.
The move to Aggborough effectively earned Lambert a promotion, having played a big part in the run that saw the Quakers top National League North in the early part of last term.
He admitted to our YouTube channel that he’d wished for a better ending to his time there but is now focused on bringing his threats to DY10.
He said: “I wish it had ended better. I picked up a knock towards the end which didn’t help.
“Until then I thought it been the best football I’ve been playing, up until Christmas especially.
“I felt good and hopefully I can bring that into this club.
“I like to take risks and go one-v-one… it probably compensates coming back a little bit but I offer more than enough going forwards so hopefully I can bring lots of goals and assists.”
Knowing he’ll need to do more than attack in 2023-24, the new recruit added: “If you’re going to play then you need to work as a minimum, so I’ll do that and work as hard as I possibly can, and hopefully let the other bits do the talking up the other end of the pitch.”
Being back in full-time football is a big plus for the former Scunthorpe man.
Is he excited? He added: “Definitely, no one wants to be working a nine-to-five, not me anyway!
“It’s going to be tough coming back into it after having a couple of years out of it but I am more than excited and I’m ready.
“I’m really looking forward to just being in football every day.
“I probably took it for granted when I was younger but, being away from it, I’m really excited and can’t wait to get going.”
