A look to Saturday’s National League trip to Maidenhead United…

HARRIERS head to Maidenhead United on Saturday with Russ Penn looking for his side to stay on the goal trail.

The Reds have picked up their goals tally a little in a recent four-match unbeaten run, notably a 4-1 thumping of Stourbridge in the FA Trophy last time out.

Goals in that time have propelled Ashley Hemmings to the top of the club’s scoring charts, and boss Russ Penn is hopeful this can be a sign of what is ahead for Harriers in the coming weeks.

He said: “He’s scored six in three and is doing things that he potentially wasn’t doing at the start of the season.

“I think we’ve got some really good attacking players who are all contributing.

“Ryan McLean, Ben Tollitt, Jack Lambert and Bailey Hobson, and that’s not including the front men of Amari Morgan-Smith and Gold Omotayo.

“Hopefully that’s a sign of things to come.”

Omotayo made his debut against The Glassboys after signing from AFC Fylde and, Penn says, will be a big part of things going forward.

He added: “We’ve brought him in because he’s going to contribute to goals to keep us up, so I am delighted with the signing.

“We’ll get him up to our speed now and look forward to working with him.”

Saturday’s journey is to a Maidenhead side who, while beaten in the FA Trophy last weekend, are currently heading towards the top of the National League’s form table.

Excellent recent form over the last six games or so, has pulled them well clear of the drop zone after an inconsistent start.

“They’re mid-table but were only a couple of places above us four weeks ago,” Penn acknowledged.

“It just shows you what a run of positive results can do in the league.

“Alan Devonshire knows the game and knows the level very well.

“We’ll respect them hugely on Saturday but we’re going there to win the game.”

Harriers go into the game with fit again Shane Byrne available after the skipper came off the bench against Stourbridge last weekend.

Byrne played his first minutes since the opening day in August in the 4-1 win and thankfully came through unscathed.

Nat Knight-Percival has suffered a recent injury set-back and is further away from contention, and Joe Leesley is thought to be rated at being a few weeks away following an injection last week.

Harriers and Maidenhead United have faced off just once, that being the goalless and fairly uneventful goalless draw at Aggborough in this term’s reverse fixture.

Don’t forget, to mark their partnership with Campaign Against Living Miserably (CALM), Maidenhead are offering two-for-one tickets for Saturday’s clash.

Full details are available on the club’s website, while away travel remains available from Harriers up to and including Friday.
