HARRIERS suffered a 3-1 defeat to Altrincham at Aggborough having gone ahead through Zak Brown’s first-half goal.

Brown had the home side in front, but the play-off chasing Robins equalised before half-time and added two further goals in the second half to make sure of the points.

Harriers had started the tie with real enthusiasm and took the game to their play-off chasing hosts, hitting the woodwork early on when Ashley Hemmings struck low, but his effort hit the post.

Eight minutesĀ  later Amari Morgan-Smith lashed the ball over the upright after it again bounced lose in the area, Harriers eventually making good on their strong start by taking the lead on 20 minutes. A corner delivery was met by Morgan-Smith whose effort fell nicely for Brown to hook home with a tidy finish.

The hosts were unfortunately not ahead for long. Conn-Clarke’s deadly delivery put them on the ball inside the area, a low cross tucked home simply by Regan Linney.

ChancesĀ  then began to fall more freely at both ends. Linney was denied a second by Dibble before Hemmings saw a low drive fly just past the upright with goalkeeper Ross scrambling.

On the stroke of half time, Lambert hit wide for Harriers, and seconds after the restart Charlie Weston curled an effort at Ross.

The Robins then should’ve taken the lead when through on goal but Dibble did superbly to stand up to their threat – Linney blazing over the bar. Undeterred, Conn-Clarke added their second moments later when he smashed home a low cross with an angled finish.

Come the hour, Dibble again saved well from point-blank range to stop Banks from adding Altrincham’s third, but that honour did fall to Conn-Clarke with 72 on the clock as he slid home a composed finish across goal.
